Epping Weavers EMBROIDERERS and Spinners have many talents. Margaret and Robyn come on Tuesday evenings and embroider and here is some of their work.

Jill loves experimenting, here she has used henna to dye her wool.
The fibre we dyed is now being spun ready to knit our blanket.
Ann is working on a project to knit poppies to remain in their local communities. I would like to contribute to this as my grandfather served.

Jill completed her lovely scarf on a rigid heddle. The finishing of the tassels is beautiful.

Judith was our lone felter last Friday. Everyone else were spinning.

Susan made a finished item, a bag, with her Kogin embroidery. Susan is also mastering the art of back strap weaving!

Starting our Raffle Blanket

Ewes plan the blanket to be made to raffle at the 2015 Exhibition. Our theme for this exhibition is Sand Sea and Sky. We hope to reflect this in the blanket we will make.

We now have our soft fleece ready to dye before we spin it.
e
We do a sample piece to confirm the colours we have chosen.

Happy with those choices and pleased they reflect "Sand Sea and Sky" we dye our fleece.
 Micro waving sets the colour.

Judi and Jill rinse the excess dye and we are pleased with the results!

They all hang out to dry. We anticipate the next stage of  spinning
 our fleece.

Basket weaving workshop

Ewes had a workshop on basket weaving. Brenda was teaching us.
We lined up our pre-soaked cane to form the base.
Then measured to have the cross over in the centre.

After a bit of work we soaked the cane again to make it pliable.

I admired Brenda's fingers deftly adjusting my weaving to get it in a better position.
Weaving the cane was a delicate move to get it gently around the uprights with out breaking them and to get the weavers snug next to the previous row. Brendas fingers did this in an easy sure way but mine were all thumbs! Still with her help I and the others have a pleasing result.
